Paper 2 – General Studies ( Objective Type )
Overview Of TNPSC Combined Engineering (CESE) Exam Pattern
The examination format will be a written test with an objective type of questions, comprising two papers. Paper I will cover subjects specific to the relevant engineering discipline, and it will have a time duration of 3 hours. On the other hand, Paper II will consist of questions on General Studies, and candidates will have 2 hours to complete it.

Paper-I of the examination will feature questions exclusively in English, while Paper-II will include questions in both Tamil and English, following the current syllabi.
To respond to Paper-I, candidates must indicate the specific subject they want to be examined on. It’s crucial that they select only the subject for which they hold the required qualification.
Candidates with degrees in Production Engineering and Industrial Engineering must select Mechanical and Production Engineering as their optional subject. On the other hand, candidates holding a degree in Textile Technology should choose Textile Engineering as their optional subject.
The subject-specific paper for Civil Engineering will encompass questions related to Civil and Structural Engineering.
